Mother-of-Pearl Blade

A knife carved from a shell with a glass handle, woven with aqua seed beads. A tassel made of graduating mother-of-pearl teardrops enhance the weight as well as functionality of this dainty blade.

I wanted to create a beautiful blade that spoke more of aesthetic than use. I loved creating this, especially working with the shell. While being incredibly delicate on its edge, it also gives off a luster with an eyeful of rainbow dazzle, making it edge-to-edge entrancing. One-of-a-kind, and the first of its kind in a series yet uncreated.

Size15 Miyuki seed beads woven in peyote stitch, on Nymo nylon threading. Blade edge to heel about 5 inches long, 10 inches with tassel.
